New Photos - Utah & Alaska

I wanted to share a couple of photos from earlier in our trip.

The first photo is from our visit to Zion National Park in Utah.  We visited there from May 4 to May 10 and really enjoyed hiking all around the beautiful park.  This photo is from the Court of the Patriarchs which is located just inside the southern entrance to the park.  Matt took this at sunrise.

This next photo was taken in Seward, Alaska from our visit back in August.  This photo was taken by Matt at sunset just a little ways down the beach from our campsite.  It is of some old piers that were destroyed during the 1964 earthquake that devastated the town of Seward.

Matt took this last photo while we were in Valdez, Alaska just last month.  This adorable harbor seal (nicknamed "Sea Sausages" by the locals) was lounging on some glacial ice that had recently calved from the Columbia Glacier.  We had taken a cruise out of Valdez and over to this huge glacier that was surrounded by huge fields of icebergs (some were larger than our boat).

I think that catches me up on past photos.  I do another one in a day or so of some new eagle photos from here in Haines.

Puffin Mania.... well maybe Puffin Encounter

We have had a couple of great weather days.  We took a quiet day yesterday and never left the RV and spent the day relaxing.  Today, we rode our bikes into Seward from our campground and had a quick lunch in town.

I thought I would post a couple more photos of the wonderful little Puffins that Matt and I encountered at the Alaska Sea Life Center.

Incoming!!!!  Not too graceful in flight, but graceful in the water.

Puffins at the Sea Life Center in Seward, AK

As many of you know, my favorite bird is the Puffin.  We spent today at the Alaska Sea Life Center where we had a "Puffin Encounter" where we got to hand feed the sea birds at the Center.  It was so great!!!

Above is a quick video I took of a Horned Puffin as he swam around his habitat at the center.  He definitely succeeded in splashing the lenses of our cameras and getting us wet.  If you receive this in an email, don't forget to click on the above to be taken to where you can view it.

I'll post some more photos of us later today.

On the road again... Seward Alaska

We made it back from our kayak trip a little soggy, but it was great and neither of us took a swim, YEAH!!!!  I'll post some more on the trip and some great pictures that we got in the beautiful bay and the cute little yurt that we stayed in.

We left Homer this morning and now are in Seward, Alaksa (just the other side of the Kenai peninsula).  We have had our first day without any rain since we got into Alaska almost a month ago.  It was so beautiful (highs in the low 60's) that we had to spend a good portion of the day outside including a nice dinner.  Here is a picture of our newest "home" and Matt cleaning all the Alaska muck out of his tripod (although some of our fellow RV'ers thought he was cleaning some type of weapon device?????).

Yes, we were still drying everything out since it has rained constantly and our shoes were still wet from McNeil almost a week ago.

Look at that beautiful blue sky!!!  We have not seen it in weeks!!!
